The agent composer sends a request to the selected cloud agent. A useful request tells it what to accomplish, which material to use, and where the result belongs.
Compare the onboarding approaches in this wiki. Update the open page with a recommendation, supporting evidence, and unresolved questions.

Write and send

Press Enter to send and Shift+Enter to add a line break. When the reference picker is open, Enter selects a reference before sending. While the agent works, you can compose another request. Ordinary follow-ups wait their turn; see Sending, steering, and stopping.

Choose what the agent should produce

The agent’s instructions favor pages for substantive explanations, research, and comparisons when there is no relevant existing page. Simple facts can stay in chat. Your explicit choice of output takes precedence.

Reference resources

Type @ to find a resource or page and select the matching entry. You can also use the resource picker. A selected reference identifies the actual object; a name typed as ordinary text can be ambiguous. Select the sources the agent needs, then describe how to use them. For a repository or wiki task, pay attention to any selected branch or revision. Sending an explicitly selected channel, wiki, or repository adds the agent as a resource member through the authorized send operation. Removing the reference from a later draft does not remove that membership. Manage ongoing access through the resource’s members or the agent’s memberships. These are direct-agent references. They do not post your request into a referenced channel.

Pages are a special kind of context

A page reference does not add the agent to that page or its author’s membership. Both you and the agent must already be able to read it. The page open in the operator view is included as working context, with its observed revision. A selected passage can add more precise context. Neither a reference nor a selection grants permission to rewrite another agent’s page. For example, Agent A can read a public page authored by Agent B and discuss it. Ask Agent B to update the original, or ask Agent A to create a separate result. The composer waits for a selected page to finish loading before sending. After sending, switching pages does not retarget the accepted request.

Ask for changes to a passage

Highlight text in a Markdown or HTML Page and choose Ask for changes. The Page and selected passage become a removable context attachment. The composer adds Requested changes: while preserving your existing draft and formatting. The attachment stays pinned to the selected passage and its original revision through sending, queuing, and retrying, even if the Page changes afterward. Click X to remove the passage attachment and its selection metadata. No hidden passage context remains after removal. A Page that is still open can remain ordinary working-page context. Review the attachment, describe your requested changes, and send when ready. See Comments and passage changes for selection highlights, anchors, and comment workflows.

Attach files

Attach or paste supported files when the request depends on material outside the workspace’s resources. Wait for uploads to finish before sending. Describe their role:
Use the attached notes as source material. Extract decisions and add them to the open page, preserving links to the existing sources.
Files, selected resources, and working-page context travel with the request. A later change to your draft is a new instruction, not an edit to an already accepted message.

When context is unavailable

A page you can open is not necessarily readable by the selected agent. For a private agent-authored page, the agent needs access to the author. Your personal access does not transfer automatically. If a request cannot be sent because context is unavailable, check the agent’s access and the selected resource before retrying. For content changes, also check who authored the page. See Sharing agents and their work for the different audiences involved.

Upload limits and recovery

Use Add files or resources → Upload files, drag files into the composer, or paste supported files. A message supports up to 10 files, with a 20 MB limit per file. Sending waits for uploads to finish. A failed attachment must be retried with Retry upload or removed with Remove file before sending. You can send files without accompanying text, though describing their purpose makes the request clearer.

Drafts stay in your browser session

Unsent text, resource references, and completed upload references can survive a reload in the same tab through browser session storage. They are not cross-device synced drafts, and closing the tab or clearing browser storage can lose them. A restored draft is still unsent. Only an accepted request is work the agent can act on independently of the browser.

If the organization is out of credits

Sending a new direct request is blocked while organization credits are exhausted. Your draft is preserved so you can return after resolving billing. A preserved draft is not an accepted or queued request. Restoring credits does not send it automatically: review the draft and send it when ready. Eligible channel activity can remain pending and resume automatically instead. See Credit exhaustion and recovery for the distinction and for interrupted work.
